Submissions Privacy Policy

When a parent or guardian submits a question for a magazine interview, or a photo or description of something their child has made, we collect: the parent/guardian’s email address, the child’s first name, the child’s country, and the submitted content itself (question text, or a description/image of the child’s creation).

If a photo is submitted, it should not show the child’s face. Shots from behind, over-the-shoulder, or of hands/the creation alone are welcome. If a submitted photo shows a child’s face, it is deleted without being reviewed for publication or retained in any form.

This information is collected so that we may consider the submission for publication in an upcoming issue of Ripple, and/or on Ripple’s social media channels (for example, sharing a submitted question alongside an interview snippet). If selected, the child’s first name and country (and their question or creation) may appear in either or both. We do not add submitted email addresses to our marketing mailing list, use them for advertising or ad targeting, or share them with third parties. Use is limited to the publication decision described above and the retention purposes below.

Processing is based on the explicit consent of the submitting parent or guardian, given at the point of submission.

If a submission is not selected for publication, all associated personal data is deleted within 6 months of submission.

If a submission is selected and published, we retain a minimal consent record — the parent/guardian’s email address, the consent given, the date, and what was published — for as long as needed to demonstrate that consent was obtained. This record is kept separately from any active use and is not used for any purpose other than responding to a query about that specific publication.

Submissions are reviewed only by Ripple’s editorial team. They are not shared with third parties.

Parents or guardians may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child’s submitted information at any time by contacting [email protected], subject to the limits above for already-published content — noting that removal from a printed issue already in circulation is not possible, though we can remove a social media post on request.
